Ah, pictures, they had been promised and here are a few from various points over the past two weeks. First up we have Kellie and Ethan right after he was born. Pretty much as soon as they cleared him and did his prelim vitals they wrapped him up gave him to me and she got to hold him. Take note of his peaceful expression, bout as good as it's been so far ;)
My mom (grand parental titles are up in the air at the moment) holding him for a bit, got a wee smile there... sorta.
My dad, yeah, he's gonna be a big softy.

He also redid a cradle my Grandfather's brother made for me when I was born, did an awesome job refinishing it, have to get a good pic of that up later. Thanks Dad. Favored sleeping position at the moment. Apparently something I also was well known for back when I was little.
Mom and baby earlier this week.
Little guy is growing like mad at this point. We took him back in on Thursday since he was having a bit of congestion. (Nothing to be worried about, just gets a little milk down the wrong tube) Anyway, turns out the little sucker had put on another 12 ounces in the 6 days since his first visit, up to 8lb 4oz as of Thurs.

Baby Stuff

Details on the new kid:

Name: Ethan Maxwell
Born: 6/17/07 at 2:42pm
Weight: 7lbs, 14oz
Length: 21"

Catchup on the first week.

Pretty well all things considered, he had some gas bubbles the first few nights and we, naturally, had no gas drops. Result... us thumping his back and flipping him through any number of contorted posistions trying to get said bubbles up or out so we could all get some sort of rest. About this time we also discovered he's very hot natured. The kid absolutly HATES socks and the fastest way to get him to pitch a fit was to swaddle him up in a blanket, still is by the way.

Left the hospital on Tuesday morning, home without incident (he seems to really like car rides, not a peep out of him yet). First week was all visitors and trying to get everyone settled and get some sort of a routine started.

Next up was a checkup on Friday. Went fine though we didnt realize there was a "newborn" room which was quieter. Not that it mattered he slept through the whole wait in spite of the noise. Weight wise he had been down 8oz when we left the hospital on Tues, he'd already picked 2 back up by Friday, not too shabby.

I'll have some pics up a bit later.

New Blog

Well, I had been looking for an easier way to get photos and news about the new Great Grandchild/Grandchild/Great-nephew/Nephew out to the extended families. All things considered a blog would do pretty well for that sort of thing, quick, easy and wouldnt require many emails with tons of attachments. Thanks to Phil and Sarah for getting me pointed to this site, even if they weren't aware of it at the time.

So, pics and updates on the family for the family, general happenings in and around Melbourne, and of course the baby, always the baby cause, let's be honest, as of 6/17, Kellie and I are old news :P.

Anyway, just getting a feel for the app now, will try and get stuff posting with some pics and the like soon.
