New Pictures and News

Well, he's finally getting to the point where you can occasionally play, tease or otherwise force an actual smile out of him which is just too cool. He has become known as a grunting machine, a noisy and frequent eater and a belcher the like that few can match (the people from Sunday School this past week can vouch for that ;) ) Other hobbies include massive stretches, flailing limbs, frequent attempts to punch himself in the nose and deathgrips and pulls of my arm hair (crazy fun that last one).

He's also gotten to where he wants to stay up til midnight and not nap for more than a 30-45 minute stretch at a time during the day. On the upside when he does sleep at night he does tend to be out for 4 hrs or so so it could be worse. Anyway, on to the pictures:

Here's one for Aunt Kate to lead off. Wearing the shirt she got him and with a smile to boot :D, yes we love our Coastie

A couple of nicer expressions here, a nice peaceful face and a bit of a grin at the end.

Prayer Request

Update on my grandmother. They have scheduled her for her valve replacement sometime Friday morning. They havent given any further details but that is the current plan. If you could keep the family and especially my mother in your prayers for the next few days that would be most appreciated.

Kellie's Birthday! and more pictures

Happy Birthday to Kellie first of all. Since today is her big day the little one worked with us and let her sleep in a bit as he went a couple nice 3 hr stretches last night and didnt get active again until almost 10 this morning. Unless you count the unfortunate 15 minutes I had with him where I was changing his dirty diaper, he spit up about half the formula I had fed him 10 minutes before so he could swim in it, and then decided another bowel movement while I'm trying to get all that cleaned up. Comedy gold that stretch lemme tell ya. He also graced us with a belch this morning that I'm not sure my Dad could match :P

Anyway, on to the pictures.

Kellie's Mom (title still pending)
Kellie's Dad (title still pending)
Adam, Kellie's brother, didn't catch a good picture where he wasn't fussing a bit though he did settle down after a few minutes.
Gotta love those awkward sleeping positions.

First Bath and More

Well he had his first bath last night, one he felt the need to contribute a fountain to but all worked out, can see pictures of that below. Also had a visit from one of my Grandmothers, Aunt Beth and cousin Samantha to see him, a couple of those are here as well.

Aunt Beth, not sure that's an entirely recommended way to hold the baby but, hey, it worked, he's asleep and, for whatever reason, loves to sleep in ways that crank that neck around or back.

Grandma holding the new GreatGrandson, her first. And even better, she can see him well now after her cataract surgery a couple weeks ago :D.
Random action shot. He cycles expression so much its really tough to get anything that isnt "angry", "yawn", "concentration" or a variation of the three.
Sleeping the other day on me. Again, one of those things with the head/neck stretched back.
Random cat pic of Lizzy my almost year old Maine Coon mix. She and Ethan are probably in the same weight class about now. She's also been great around him lately as well, not scared of him in the least... yet.
Bath picture.
FINALLY! A good expression!
Followed shortly by this. Dont think it was the bath so much that bothered him, it was the drying off bit. And he was getting kinda hungry, doesnt take to missing meals this one. Got him dry and waiting on dinner.
Crazy hair. Dried his head and this was the result, he's gonna love this picture down the road lemme tell ya.

2 week checkup

Ethan's "2 week" checkup was this morning and here's where he stands:

Length: 22 1/4" (up 1 1/4" from birth)
Weight: 9lbs 5oz (he'd just eaten in the waiting room but that's still up 12-17 oz from his last visit a week ago)

Anyway, he's in the 93rd percentile in length but only the 70th in weight so there aren't any concerns currently about the weight he's putting on. That is, unless you count those issues Kellie and I will incur while lugging the little sucker around.

Everything else checks out, eyes, ears, etc all look good and his reflux issues don't seem to be quite as severe the last few days. So far as health stuff goes we'll have another official vitals from the pediatrician sometime in mid-August at his 2 month checkup but we'll try and see if we can't do some estimates off and on for laughs.

Commenting and prayer request

Currently comments are open, depending on how that works out I may be forced to switch back and restrict it to registered users again. Should it come to that the easiest way to make comments is to set yourself up a gmail (google mail) account and use that to post with.

In other news, one of my grandmothers has been having health issues. She's on the list for an aortic valve replacement and this week she has apparently added an infection that has gone septic on top of that. She's currently back in the hospital in Jacksonville so please keep her and the family in prayers.

Pictures, etc

Some more pictures for those that have been unable to see directly so far.

First up a good one in his crib at the hospital. He was hunting those fingers early and often, still does whenever he starts getting hungry, arms flailing about all over the place. He's smacked himself pretty good a couple times so far.

Appears that he got the Lepper feet anyway. Pretty good ones there. Ah, the hair, first thing that everyone notices when they see him. Hasn't lost a lick that we can tell. Though thick hair comes with a price... we can already see at least 2 cowlicks :P

Giving dad the eye there.

Mom, dad and the squirt all together.
